About Me

Hello there and welcome! My name is Mary Ann and I'll be your tour guide at the farm.
I have been a primary teacher for 32 years and thoroughly enjoyed that career, particularly whenever I had an opportunity to share my knowledge, skills and values about nature, the farm or the environment. Recently I decided to unite my zest for teaching with my passion for agriculture by providing farm learning experiences at home on my farm. My goal is to bring knowledge of Canadian farming to youth who would not normally experience it. In addition to years of teaching experience, I have also had other opportunities to share my life and passions with others. I have been a 4-H leader since 1974, and a director with the Durham Central Agricultural Society since 1992. Recently, I have become involved with the Ontario Farm Animal Council and OAFE (Ontario Agri-Food Educators) in an attempt to bridge the information gap between consumers and the people who work on the farm. I currently serve as a director of Durham Region Federation of Agriculture and chair the Farm Connections steering committee which is a group attempting to provide resources and opportunities for urban folk to learn more about agriculture.I am also a director with the Durham Region Pork Producers Association and work with the Durham Region Cattlemen and the Durham Region Sheep Producers on various agricultural promotion endeavours at fairs and local festivals.I take an active role in our church and serve on the Branch and District level of Women's Institute. I love what I do and am proud to be a farmer.
Thanks for visiting this site and I hope to see you soon!
